General

The Pleurotus ostreatus warm, also known as the summer oyster mushroom , is a heat-loving variety of the classic oyster mushroom. It forms grey to greyish-brown, shell-shaped caps with light-colored flesh and impresses with a mild, spicy, pleasantly mushroomy aroma.
This product is vital mycelium for home mushroom cultivation, specially selected for higher temperatures.

Shelf life

The mycelium delivered is fresh and active upon arrival. Stored in the refrigerator at 2–5 °C , it can be kept for several weeks. For optimal cultivation results, we recommend using it as soon as possible. Protect from heat, direct sunlight, and drying out.

Fruiting

Once the substrate is fully colonized, the summer oyster mushroom begins to produce fruiting bodies under suitable environmental conditions. It typically grows in dense clusters. Harvesting takes place when the caps are well-developed but still slightly curled.

Fertilization temperature

The ideal temperature for fruiting body formation is between 18 and 28 °C , making this variety particularly suitable for summer cultivation.

Mycel

The mycelium of Pleurotus ostreatus warm is vigorous, white to cream-colored, and grows quickly and evenly through the substrate. It is considered very robust and adaptable.

Reproduction temperature

The optimal temperature for substrate colonization is between 22 and 28 °C .

Special features / tips

The summer oyster mushroom thrives in straw and hardwood substrates (e.g., beech). Good air circulation is crucial for healthy caps and short stems. It is particularly well-suited for warm rooms, cellars, or cultivation during the summer months.
