General information about the lemon oyster mushroom

The lemon oyster mushroom (Pleurotus citrinopileatus), also known as the golden oyster mushroom, impresses with its bright yellow color and its mild, nutty, slightly lemony flavor. Originally native to subtropical regions of Asia, it boasts rapid growth and is ideally suited for cultivation on various substrates. This product provides you with high-quality lemon oyster mushroom mycelium for the easy cultivation of delicious edible mushrooms at home.

Shelf life

The delivered mycelium can be stored in the refrigerator (2–6 °C) for approximately 2–4 weeks upon arrival. Until use, it should be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight.

Fruiting

Once the substrate is completely colonized, the lemon oyster mushroom mycelium begins fruiting under optimal conditions. The first mushrooms usually appear 1–2 weeks after fruiting begins. High humidity and good ventilation are recommended for a successful harvest.

Fertilization temperature

The ideal temperature for fruiting is between 18 and 24 °C. The lemon oyster mushroom fruits particularly reliably at warm temperatures, so it can easily be cultivated even in summer.

Mycel

The supplied mycelium exhibits a strong, whitish-yellow network of threads and grows rapidly on suitable substrates such as straw, straw pellets, or mixtures with sawdust. It is characterized by its vitality and a pleasant, fresh odor.

Reproduction temperature

The mycelium prefers temperatures between 20 and 28 °C for colonization of the substrate. Within this range, the lemon oyster mushroom mycelium grows particularly quickly and vigorously.

Shipping information

Mycel is shipped exclusively from Monday to Wednesday to ensure maximum freshness and quality upon arrival.

Special features / tips

Lemon oyster mushrooms are particularly fond of warmth and thrive best when grown on pasteurized straw or straw pellets. High humidity during fruiting is important, but waterlogging should be avoided. Harvest the mushrooms young for the best flavor and tender texture. Common problems include excessively dry air or insufficient ventilation.
